Delaware's unemployment rate fell last month to its lowest level in more than eight years, according to the latest preliminary data from the state labor department. The Tampa Bay region added 47,600 private sector jobs over the year, and saw its unemployment rate drop to 4.1 percent in the same timeframe. Indiana's rate remains above the national average of 4.7 percent, but is second-lowest among neighboring states. The region showed a net gain of 2,000 jobs, 0.6 percent, this year.
Denmark's unemployment insurance scheme which has "generated higher workforce participation - and lower unemployment - rates there than in Australia and most other OECD nations over the last two decades".
Employment in the other services sector, which includes repairs and maintenance, personal care services, and religious organizations, rose by 200 positions in May 2016 from a month ago. Government (up 2,700) and information (up 200) also gained jobs. At the same time, the number of unemployed people across the state dropped by 10,240 to 255,467.
"The labor force continues to grow, with 7,000 more employed residents and 2,000 fewer unemployed residents in May", Labor and Workforce Development Secretary Ronald Walker II said, adding that the education and healthcare sector and the professional, scientific, and business-services sector continue to generate the most jobs in MA. "We are seeing more individuals enter into the labor force, which is going to influence the unemployment rate", Walls said.
Education and health services led all Minnesota sectors in May with 3,900 new jobs.
Construction lost 1,700 jobs (-1.1%) over the month.
The unemployment rates in York and Lancaster counties also dipped in May.
