Local reports suggest the shooting is linked to an attempted armed raid on a Rolex shop inside the hotel.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the situation was under investigation on Saturday morning and denied reports of an active shooter at the scene.

"Initial reports indicated there was an active shooter, however that proved to be false", police said in a statement.

The suspects wore character masks, but Lt. Hank could not confirm the specifics of the mask. The Bellagio is home to several high-end jewelry and watch stores, including Tiffany, Tesorini, Omega and Harry Winston. The Bellagio remained on lockdown for about 30 minutes after the incident. Police have not yet named the retail store or identified any of the burglars.

According to The Las Vegas Review-Journal, three men walked into the Bellagio dressed in "dark, nice suits" and animals masks.

They tried to drive off, but when the vehicle didn't start, they tried to carjack someone and then tried to run away, the Sun reported.

One suspect is in custody as of Saturday after the robbers used sledgehammers to smash open the store's jewelry cases, authorities said, according to ABC News.
