She insisted that the buck stops with Ryan, adding, "This is not on President Trump".
Since the Friday collapse of health care, Trump and Vice President Mike Pence have repeatedly said they continue to support Ryan as speaker. As it turns out, she led her show calling for Speaker of the House Paul Ryan to step down. The reason: "He failed to deliver the votes on his healthcare bill, the one trumpeted to repeal and replace ObamaCare", Pirro said in her opening statement.
"Folks, I want to be clear, this is not on President Trump", she said, stating that the president had relied on Ryan's expertise and knowledge of his fellow Republicans' leanings - and Ryan let him down.
Pirro said the onus for the failure was not on the president, as prior to his inauguration he had scant political experience. Depicting Trump as a RINO-trampled victim, Pirro delivered a buck-stops-in-the-House sermon. Paul Ryan has no interest in finding out the truth about the Russia/Trump relationship.
I think he's getting a bad rap on this. "He worked very, very hard", Mr. Trump said.
But wait. Are we sure Trump promoted Pirro's show because he knew she was going to go after Ryan?More news: EBay to launch Guaranteed Delivery in U.S. this summer
'I certainly have not spoken to the president about any of this, but I can only imagine that he and his aides took on healthcare because they believed you had his back, and you didn't!
Some members already have voted the bill out of committee, and one who voted against it in committee now has changed his mind and favors it, Ryan said. Shortly thereafter, the commander in chief called on followers to watch Judge Jeanine Pirro's show on Fox News that evening. They could have offered phased-in, carefully tailored fixes to Obamacare's more-glaring problems; instead, they served up a hot mess of think-tank fantasies about the free market fixing everything.
Instead, they pulled their health care bill before the vote - a major blow to the president and the Republican Party. The Republican platform itself also called for Obamacare's full repeal. Much of the leadership of the Republican Party in D.C.in the House and the Senate was opposed to him.
Pirro later claimed she did not collude with the White House on her biting remarks against Ryan.
The FBI and both current and former heads of U.S. intelligence also say the allegation has no merit. She also warned Trump that the House Freedom Caucus now feels "emboldened" and will "dig their heals in" on future legislative endeavors.
So tax reform is now the big ticket item, and as we have heard, perhaps optimistically, from both Trump and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin the wheels are in motion to focus on the budget, debt ceiling and redesigning the tax code. If they do so, they may - it may not be the Democrats who get the blame because remember, the Congressional Budget Office has said Obamacare's markets are likely to remain stable in most parts of the country.
