With an unemployment rate of 3.6 percent in February, the county had the second-lowest rate in the state, behind only Monroe County at 3.1 percent. The individual county rates are not, meaning annual temporary jobs such as holiday retail work are not factored out of the data.

In February 2016, the county had a rate of 3.5 percent. Kentucky has the next lowest rate at 4.9 percent.

Industry sectors that have made gains include government, which added 8,300 last month, and construction, adding 7,300 jobs in February. Manufacturing was down about 1,000 jobs, or 0.4 percent, with a 1,900-job decline in durable goods manufacturing outweighing a 900-job gain in nondurable goods manufacturing.

February's jobless rate in the four-county Sacramento area was 5.1 percent.

"January got 2017 off to a strong and encouraging start, while February numbers slipped".

But this year, the unemployment rate has fallen in the commonwealth, the labor force has held steady.

The state's unemployment rate remains above the national figure of 4.7 percent.

Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that Iowa now has a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.2 percent.

"I am proud to announce that Florida's private-sector businesses have created almost 54,000 new jobs in 2017", Scott said in a prepared statement.

During February, all but two private sector industry groups measured in the establishment survey posted net job increases compared to the same time past year as natural resources and mining shed 800 positions and the information industry lost 600 positions.

Labor force statistics, including the unemployment rate, are based on estimates from the Current Population Survey of households. The rate was 3.8 percent in January and 4.1 percent in February 2016.

This is an improvement from the revised January rate of 5.4 percent. Lang says there were 53,000 more jobs in February 2017 compared to February of a year ago.

The best performing industries in February were trade, transportation and utilities and hospitality, which piled on a combined 16,700 jobs over the month.
