E! Online posted a preview from next Sunday's episode in which Kim Kardashian tells her sisters, Kourtney Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian, that she feared for her life during the October 2016 robbery.

The criminals stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry, including a $4 million ring Kardashian West had been showing off on social media after first debuting it at the MTV Video Music Awards in August.

The reality star goes on to explain, "I was like, 'I have a split second in my mind to make this quick decision.'" she says before breaking down into tears.

"I was Snapchatting that I was home and that everyone was going out", she recounts. "So I think they knew that [our bodyguard] Pascal was out with Kourtney and that I was [at the hotel] by myself", she said.

"They had to of known we were leaving that day".

Leading up to the incident, Kardashian West documented her day on social media, attending the Balenciaga show before stepping out with sister Kourtney for a dinner hosted by designer Azzedine Alaïa. "They had that window or opportunity and just went for it".

Kim also admitted that her use of social media was a factor in the thieves being able to choose a moment when she was vulnerable to attack.

In an extended preview, which aired on US breakfast show Today on Wednesday, Kim insists it wasn't a coincidence the thugs picked an evening she was home alone, without security, admitting her social media posts may have helped them determine the best time to strike, as her sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner were enjoying a night out.

Arrests were made in connection to the robbery in January, with 10 people being charged.

Kim's mother Kris Jenner appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last month and said that returning to film Keeping Up with the Kardashians had actually helped her daughter return to a sense of normalcy after the "devastating" incident.

The mum-of-two then said she begged the robbers not to kill her.

The new episode of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" airs this Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
