'My loyalties are not with the Republican Party, ' Jenner said. She said it was a legitimate question. "I ultimately hold him responsible". "But we needed to shake the system up", added the former U.S. Olympian. "I am 100% behind gay marriage - let's clear that up", she adamantly told Diane Sawyer. Weeks later she debuted her new look in a Vanity Fair cover story that was heralded as a watershed moment for transgender visibility.
Jenner is now on a press tour to promote her new book, "The Secrets of My Life".
She claims to be a Republican despite the staunch and orthodox stand of the party against the LGBT community.
Caitlyn Jenner may not be happy with President Trump so far on LGBTQ issues, but when Don Lemon asked her tonight if voting for Trump was a mistake, she did not go that far.
Her position evolved when the Trump administration withdrew Obama era guidance protecting transgender students from discrimination in public schools. As a fellow Republican, she urged President Trump to fix the disastrous decision.
She also stated that she is still a Republican and believes Trump is the man 'we need to turn this country around'.
One can argue that it was Caitlyn Jenner's support of the Republican Party and Donald Trump during the 2016 election campaign that is responsible for her unpopularity within the LGBTQIA+ community.More news: Syrian Kurds seek US-led coalition air cover
'And I got a voice and they'd better listen, because I will come after them, ' she added.
"What I'm doing today is more important than winning the (Olympic) Games 40 years ago", she said.
"I thought Trump would be pretty good, but he's kind of disappointed me in the first hundred days on those issues", continued Jenner.
For example, she had gender reassignment surgery.
Jenner felt obligated to broach the topic in her book to educate the public.
Ultimately, she wants to find where she can be most effective for advocating transgender issues.
Meanwhile, Caitlyn said that she did not even talked about her ex-wife in the book and told the press she can not blame her for saying that as some of Caitlyn's friends also have their own version of their stories. "The Democrats are better there", Jenner - an advocate for the LGBTQ community - explained.
