CHELSEA has stretched its lead at the top of the English Premier League back out to seven points after a 4-2 defeat of Southampton at Stamford Bridge.
He added a superb second as Chelsea secured a 4-2 win to go seven points clear of Tottenham at the summit, with their nearest rivals in action against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
"We passed a big step, a big psychological step, after the defeat against United", Conte said. Because against United we lost three points and then you had to prepare (for) a semi-final against Tottenham. He's very important for us.
Whatever Antonio Conte said to his players in the dressing room proved effective as the team emerged from the half-time break more determined and decisive. "This race will continue until the end of the league and for this reason we must be ready". I want to take the trophy at the end of the season.
Hazard, Costa, Cahill and Cesc Fabregas were all recalled to the starting line-up after Conte rotated boldly at Wembley and he felt his players cast his decisions in a favourable light.
"We've put pressure on Spurs", said Eden Hazard, who scored the first of Chelsea's goals after just five minutes.
Eden Hazard put the Blues ahead as early as the 5th minute, before former Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu equalized. "I'm pleased with our fantastic performance".More news: FDA further restricts pain medication use in kids
"It was very important otherwise we would have gone into the changing room at 1-1, it's not the same and my speech wouldn't have been the same".
"Sometimes he was unlucky in different circumstances, but I was always confident about him".
"In this moment I wanted to kick the ball and I took the bag as a ball", the Italian explained.
Both sides came into the game firing on all cylinders but Chelsea struck blood first. "It will be a great loss next season to lose a player like this".
If home advantage wasn't enough for Chelsea in their title duel with Tottenham, Diego Costa suddenly remembering where the back of the net is against Southampton must have been a demoralising a sight for anyone connected with Spurs.
"It's a shame that with the quality of this game we conceded four goals tonight", Puel said.
"Although they are playing well, and we have to accept that, their focus is tomorrow night when they have a massive, massive game that will tell us what their season is going to be about", he continued.
