"But right now, no, I'm not running for public office", Clinton told Variety. "I don't think so", Clinton said in an interview today on "CBS This Morning".

Here I thought the one thing that could save Democrats from electoral irrelevance was putting forward a different, more unqualified Clinton. No, Chelsea, we don't all need to ask ourselves that question - particularly you.

"I think there are a lot of ways to get involved".

She said her mom is focused on encouraging young people who consider running for public office to throw their hats into the ring and focused on supporting organizations like Planned Parenthood under the Republican-controlled government. "She's focused on what she can do to help support work that she's been engaged in for longer than I've been alive".

When asked whether a run for office is inevitable because her parents were both politicians, Chelsea Clinton would only say that everyone should be willing to fight for programs and policies they believe in.

"I hope her kids are doing well", Clinton replied.

"We deserve those answers", she said. She's now on a book tour for the paperback edition of her young adult book, "It's Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going!" She is also preparing to release an illustrated children's book in May that celebrates female leaders.

She was also asked if Russia's meddling in the presidential election contributed to her mother's defeat.
