The handset comes in a metal frame unlike the Honor 8 which was available in glass.
The smartphone comes with 6GB of RAM. On balance, the Honor 8 Pro delivers much more smartphone oomph per pound than last year's Honor 8, and fixes numerous problems we saw first time around.
It's a BIG phone, featuring a QuadHD 5.7-inch display with 2,560 x 1,440 resolution. Next to this Cortex A73 quad-core CPU (running 2.4 GHz) and four low-power Cortex A53 cores (at 1.8 GHz) we have a Mali-G71 GPU with support for Vulkan graphics and API that increases graphics performance up to 400%.
The rear of the device has a fingerprint sensor and 12MP dual-lens camera.
The headphone jack, single speaker and USB-C port are all found on the bottom of the phone, keeping line breaks and distractions to a minimum at the top and sides. It packs a 4,000 mAh Battery.
As for other specifications, the Honor 8 Pro runs on Android 7.0 Nougat- based on Huawei's EMUI 5.1 OS, and supports a hybrid dual-SIM slot which means users will have to choose between using two SIM cards or a microSD card.
On unboxing the Honor 8 Pro there's instantaneously one thing that can be recognised within the device's packaging. The added grunt and increased display resolution should enable the Honor 8 Pro to handle VR tasks easily, with 100's of premium virtual reality experiences available care of the pre-installed Jaunt VR app and the VR headset that is included in the box.More news: Trump takes up health care with Rand Paul, on golf course
But the Honor 8 Pro also has a better image resolution, boasting a QHD screen with 2560 x 1440 pixels.
The handset packs this power into a lovely, ultra-thin 6.97mm body, making it one of the slimmest smartphones on the market without compromising on performance.
Huawei launched its Honor brand to sell good value phones in the United Kingdom after experts at this sort of thing predicted Westerners would never be able to pronounce "Huawei". After the release of Honor V9 in China, the announcement for Huawei Honor 8 Pro is made internationally and will be shipped starting April 20.
My time with the Honor 8 Pro has been quite short, and I've yet to give it a full workout.
For VR fans, there's a small consolation to the fact that you won't be able to get Daydream working from launch, but don't fret because the box actually turns into a Cardboard.
I've been an Android fan ever since owning an HTC Hero, with the Dell Streak being my first phablet. Right under this panel we have a Kirin 960 processor, the same processor in charge of pushing the current flagship of Huawei, the Huawei P10. When not immersed in the world of Android and gadgets, I'm an avid sports fan, and like all South Africans, I love a good Braai (BBQ).
