He said Kim Jong-un's nuclear program helped the regime's "long-term viability".

With the US Navy deployed near the Korean Peninsula, and experts speculating that Pyongyang was preparing another nuclear test, the tensions have been rising in recent days.

EARLIER: AS North Korea held a huge parade for the 105th anniversary of founder Kim Il Sung, his grandson Kim Jong-un has threatened "nuclear justice".

Kim Jong-Un did not speak during the parade, the annual highlight of North Korea's most important holiday, which celebrates the 1912 birthday of his grandfather, Kim Il Sung, the country's founding ruler.

The isolated dictatorship's state-run TV showed what appeared to be several KN-08 and KN-14 missiles rolled out on trucks at the parade.

The nuclear-armed North is under United Nations sanctions over its weapons programmes, and has ambitions to build a rocket capable of delivering a warhead to the USA mainland - something Mr Trump has vowed "won't happen".

"If the United States wages reckless provocation against us, our revolutionary power will instantly counter with annihilating strike, and we will respond to all-out war with all-out war and to nuclear war with our style of nuclear strike warfare", Choe was quoted by The Telegraph as saying. The U.S. last weekend redirected an aircraft carrier strike group to the Korean Peninsula.

"Though analysts questioned what was inside the missile shells, they said the appearance of a submarine-launched ballistic missile shows North Korea is progressing with its plan to launch missiles from anywhere in the sea".

An official from South Korea's Unification Ministry, who spoke on condition of anonymity, citing office rules, confirmed that the man was Kim Won Hong and said his appearance shows he has been reinstated from a "purge state".

Under his watch, North Korea has aggressively pursued a goal of putting a nuclear warhead on an ICBM capable of reaching the USA mainland. "He's making a big mistake".

"As long as dialogue takes place, it can be official or unofficial, through one channel or dual channels, bilateral or multilateral". The communist country has been regularly conducting nuclear and missile tests defying United Nations' resolutions and sanctions.

North Korea's ultimate goal is to have a full array of nuclear-tipped missiles in response to what Pyongyang says is hostility by Washington and Seoul meant to topple its government.

"All the brigandish provocative moves of the U.S. in the political, economic and military fields pursuant to its hostile policy toward the DPRK will thoroughly be foiled through the toughest counteraction of the army and people of the DPRK", the North's KCNA state news agency said.

As tension between the U.S. and North Korea has increased, China has urged both sides to step back from the brink of war.

China, whose foreign minister met his French counterpart in Beijing on Friday, has said it wants to cooperate with Russian Federation to calm tension over North Korea as quickly as possible and bring all parties to the negotiating table.

"Our toughest counteraction against the USA and its vassal forces will be taken in such a merciless manner as not to allow the aggressors to survive", the official said, according to North Korea's state news agency.
