The 2020 men's basketball games will be the first time since 2012 that tournament games have been played at the Greensboro Coliseum, the NCAA said.
A detail of giant NCAA logo is seen outside of the stadium on the practice day prior to the NCAA Men's Final Four at the Georgia Dome on April 5, 2013 in Atlanta, Georgia.
"This is certainly great news and a true testament from the NCAA as to the confidence they have in our department and SUNY Plattsburgh to continue to provide a true championship experience for the student-athletes", said Plattsburgh State Director of Athletics Mike Howard. I think for sure they'll bring some of their championships here. "We value all of our partners in North Carolina and appreciate their support and cooperation". The 2018 event is slated at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, then Charlotte's Spectrum Center in 2019 and the Greensboro Coliseum in 2020. The NCAA offered a lukewarm endorsement, saying the new law "meets the minimal NCAA requirements" while expressing concerns about its provisions.
The NCAA also announced Division I NCAA tournament sites through 2021-22 on Tuesday. The conference now says that the football title game will return to Charlotte for its contractual run there through 2019. This year's All-Star Game, originally scheduled to be held in Charlotte, was moved to New Orleans.
The most noteworthy loss was Greensboro being stripped of the 2017 subregional.
And yes, North Carolina will host some events. "How can LGBTQ people - especially members of the transgender community - be safe and free from discrimination, much less protected against mistreatment or harassment with the sham fake repeal of HB2?"More news: Leicester defence under scrutiny ahead of Atletico rematch
Charlotte, which had submitted bids to host men's basketball tournaments for three years, was not selected.
Cooper had said it was clear that the NCAA had wanted a complete repeal of House Bill 2, as did he. But the governor has said the new law was the best compromise he could get given the Republicans' veto-proof majorities in the state Legislature. North Carolina has since repealed the bill, but has replaced it with HB142, which critics find equally discriminatory. By rewarding North Carolina with championship games, the NCAA has undermined its credibility and is sending a risky message to lawmakers across the country who are targeting LGBTQ people with discriminatory state legislation. The compromise prohibits local governments from enacting any new such protections until December 2020. The city will also host the women's basketball regional in 2019.
Raleigh will host first and second round men's games in 2021. Division I baseball, Division I softball, Division I men's and women's outdoor track and field, which is tallied as two separate championships, and the Football Championship Subdivision game were omitted due to existing contracts. "We worked with all of our sports committees to be able to extend those decisions as far as we could. It's not everything we could have hoped for, but we're prepared to go back". The bill was signed shortly before an NCAA deadline that would have forced the state to wait longer to host events in the future.

The ACC Women's Golf Championship will return to Greensboro's Sedgefield Country Club (Ross Course) on April 20-22, 2018.
