Fiala had two postseason goals for the Predators.

"We dug ourselves a hole in the second period and I liked the push back and the fact we came out the way we did (in the third period)", Blues coach Mike Yeo said.

The Nashville Predators have been the surprise team of the National Hockey League playoffs thus far as they swept away the heavily favoured Chicago Blackhawks and have already taken home ice advantage away from the St. Louis Blues after a game one victory on Wednesday.

The Blues cut the Predators lead to 2-1 later in the second period on a goal from Colton Parayko, but a second power-play goal, this one from Filip Forsberg, restored the two-goal lead. The Blues played well, as well as they played in the first round, but they did not get the same results.

Cam Fowler - The Anaheim defenceman returned to action, playing his first game since suffering a knee injury against Calgary April 4.

On the go-ahead goal, Jaden Schwartz led the rush and initially tried to pass it to Joel Edmundson, but the pass was off the mark and Edmundson kicked it right to Tarasenko's stick. He's always doing the little things right. "He's always working hard, he's shoving pucks in and he's always making our team better".

The Blues, who rallied from a 3-1 deficit to tie Game 1 in the third period, responded again with Jori Lehtera getting his first goal of the playoffs.

Ellis put the Predators ahead 2-1 at 3:07 of the third period as he took advantage of a turnover by Vladimir Sobotka and fired a slap shot past Allen. Rinne finished with 17 saves. "It's a good goal for us". "He's been good for us all year, so he's adapted to his role on the team, and he's one of the guys we lean heavily on". It's playoffs and I don't really care who scored and who not score.

For the second consecutive game, the Predators scored first. "Everything went well I guess and he's doing well". Lose a center in Jarnkrok... no worries, plug in veteran Vernon Fiddler who comes in and... oh gee... only gets the game victor to steal game one. "To lose a guy like that is definitely tough but glad he's doing OK".

Game 1 of the second round didn't go so well for the St. Louis Blues. "But if you don't score some games, you have to help your team".

- Pittsburgh - Washington dropped the puck last night... and it got chippy quick... "You have to do the defensive stuff". He had no points in the first four playoff games this year and has seven points (2 G, 5 A) in the last three. I prefer to keep some of the positives for the game day and we had to save a few of those. "I thought they dominated a lot of the 1-on-1 battles in the game, too, so they were better than us in all the small areas of the game and that's why they won". One of them was the OT game-winner against the Blackhawks in game three. In addition to LW Colin Wilson and LW Vernon Fiddler, LW Cody McLeod was inserted into the Predators' lineup.

- Two game in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs tonight - 7pm - NSH @ STL (NBCSN).

The Predators will have to replace Fiala's scoring, and that may need to come from a PA Parenteau, who appears to be on the verge of a breakout.

The game was delayed with 18:14 left in the second period while Fiala was taken off the ice and while a new ambulance was sent to the scene, Sporting News reported. RW Miikka Salomaki also made his 2017 playoff debut for the Predators.
