However, a new screenwriter has been brought on board in hopes of attracting new talent. Now though, a release date has apparently been set for the film, but there is no one to actually direct the project. I think that's okay news. According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, things have now changed and the director is no longer attached to He-Man and instead Sony is meeting with directors to find a replacement.
Sony Pictures have announced that they will release a new Masters Of The Universe movie in the winter of 2019. He's been attached since early 2016, but apparently he fell away from the project and the studio is now meeting with directors to bring He-Man to life on the big screen again.More news: Democratic Illinois House OKs public funding for abortions
Anybody who grew up in the 1980s was at least somewhat aware of the cartoon series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, a colorful and weird sci-fi sword-and-sorcery story about a lame princess who gets a magic sword and turns into an awesome superhero who hates shirts and trousers.
That someone won't be McG, who has been on the project since previous year. Ah 1987... you know it really wasn't that bad. David S. Goyer, who worked on Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, has been hired to write the latest attempt at a screenplay. As for who'll be playing He-Man, there's no official word, however Kellan Lutz (remember him?) tweeted about an "exciting meeting" he had with McG past year, so. yeah, that's probably not going to happen anymore. Well, we might finally have a chance to see the loincloth wearing hero once more.
