We celebrate Easter year-round

Christ has risen indeed.

"Where at times we can lose track of our faith or have faced personal struggles throughout the year, Easter Sunday is a reminder of how greatly blessed we are to be in communion with God through Jesus Christ, his son", Klein said.

Recently I was asked what determines when we celebrate Easter Sunday?

"We'll be celebrating the love of God that is expressed through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross and his resurrection and how this is shared with all of humanity as a gift from God".

For 2,000 years Easter is accompanied by holy fire, which inexplicably lights up in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, Israel.

Easter celebrations are preceded by the 40 days of Lent, a time of abstinence and penance. Jesus Christ sacrificed his life for everyone's wrong doings and then came back to life to defeat death and evil. This means that we have to dedicate ourselves in service to Mother Ghana.

Egg hunting, the Easter Bunny, and Easter parades are also followed by Christians or even non-Christians.

Bell said Easter means a lot of things to a lot of people.

I love Easter when families come together to share a meal, a few hours of making memories, a reminder of just how important they are to each other.

This spiritual truth is the center of the Christian faith and separates Christianity from every other religion, Fowler said.

Jean Shanley is retired from The Meadville Tribune where she was communities and society editor.

Klein said Easter Sunday is a reminder of "how truly blessed we are".

Recognising the celebrations, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak took to Twitter today to wish Christians in the country a "Happy Easter". "Let him say not merely, 'Christ is risen, ' but 'I shall rise'". And that's what Easter does - gently or powerfully - that Jesus died on the cross not because God wasn't in control, but because He was - and still is.
