Also missing and possibly abducted is the baby's mother, Keir Johnson.
At a press conference Friday, Hampton Police Chief Terry Sult said there was initially no indiciation of an abduction, but gave few details when asked what changed investigator's minds.
Hampton Police Division partnered with Virginia State Police in issuing an AMBER Alert for 8-month-old Chloe Johnson. Johnson had taken a week off of work for vacation and was planning to stay local and visit nearby Buckroe Beach with her daughter. Family members reported the two missing on May 1.
"I don't feel well because I miss her", said Crews.
Sult said he believes both mother and child are in danger.More news: US prepares to ban laptops on flights from Europe
One day before the Hampton, VA Amber Alert was issued, ABC 13 News Now wrote in a separate report that the town has updated its electronic billboards in hopes of finding Keir and Chloe Johnson.
They last were seen in the 1900 block of Hastings Drive in Hampton.
Keir is a black female who was last seen wearing blue jeans, tee shirt and glasses.
The alert says Chloe is 2 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 20 pounds. "She is described as a 34-year-old black woman with black hair and brown eyes standing 4' 11" and weighing 140 pounds.
