"Tonight we honor the 20th Anniversary of Titanic ❤️ with a performance of #MyHeartWillGoOn by @celinedion". The huge climbs and lung-busting notes in "My Heart Will Go On" have stymied many karaoke singers, but Dion once again demonstrated her impressive vocal range and ending the song with handsome melismatic run. "To be here, it's still emotional, because I can still feel and see what happened previous year".
"The difference now is that Celine is seen as a figure of nostalgia for a more innocent (pre-9/11 etc.) time, and as a survivor (her hard pregnancies, her husband's death) and someone whose heart really has gone on", Wilson says. Her rendition earned a standing ovation from the audience and praise from show hosts Ludacris and Vanessa Hudgens.More news: Trump hopes to nominate new Federal Bureau of Investigation director quickly
Three years ago, critic Carl Wilson published a brilliant book, "Let's Talk About Love: Why Other People Have Such Bad Taste", an expanded version of a 2007 work that centered on Dion's Grammy-winning 1997 album of the same name.
But just as our hearts go on, so must the show. In a recent Billboard oral history of the single, Dion acknowledged that her most well-known ballad has plenty of detractors, including at least one of the stars in Titanic. So, I just stood there and she looked at me and she goes, 'You look handsome, ' and then of course I was like, 'I'm the biggest fan, ' and we shook hands.
In an interview with Billboard, Dion also shared that had it not been for her husband, she may have never sang the song.
