The settler opened fire after his vehicle was surrounded and stoned by Palestinian protesters when he attempted to drive through their demonstration near an apartheid checkpoint in the northern West Bank on Thursday.

According to the source, "Hamas, whose prisoners are not part of the prisoners' strike, wants to portray the Palestinian Authority, the security forces and the efforts they are making in a negative light during the visit".

The mass protest action began on April 17 in response to a call by Marwan Barghouti, a popular Palestinian leader, over inhumane conditions in Israeli prisons. Israel refuses to negotiate.

Two-hundred Palestinians in various Israeli prisons have made a decision to join a mass hunger strike, according to a statement by the Press Committee for the Palestinian Prisoners' Hunger Strike.

Last week, reports emerged over talks between Israeli and Palestinian officials aimed at ending the strike.

An Israeli man, who was attacked Thursday by Palestinian rioters throwing stones at his auto outside of the city of Nablus, shot and killed one of the attackers and injured two others.

Meanwhile, Palestinians in the West Bank staged protests against what they perceive as indifference by the worldwide community toward the hunger strikers.

The media committee of the Detainees Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) said health condition of most of the strikers is deteriorating, with some taken to prison clinics and other moved to hospital due to their critical health condition.

He was the third Palestinian to be shot by Israeli settlers, with another wounded near Ramallah several days earlier. Palestinians say the video is a fabrication.

Protesters also blockaded roads and intersections with burning tyres and debris throughout the occupied territory, while entrances to some offices of the United Nations and Red Cross were blocked.

However, onlookers said the killing was unnecessary as she could have been physically overpowered.
