The Jazz won three road games in the series, gaining valuable experience away from the confines of their loud, boisterous home arena. What does that mean in 2017?
On Sunday, the Clippers lost 104-91 to the Jazz in Game 7 of their first-round matchup, ending their season and presenting them with a number of questions about the team's future. Had Los Angeles won, Golden State would have been able to stay closer to home and enjoy the local beaches as well as the infinite dining options.
They were offensively precise. Pierce, 39, had 6 points and 3 rebounds in 21 minutes for the Clippers.
The top-seeded Celtics, winning a fifth straight playoff game after losing the first two games against Chicago, trailed 22-5 five-and-a-half minutes into the contest. When Rudy Gobert went out with foul trouble, Favors stepped up and had one of the best games of his season. He's handled that with poise, and he's a heck of an offensive player. When Favors needed a breather while Gobert couldn't play, Jeff Withey got time. One of the Jazz's wins came in overtime.
"We've never been in the second round, so now that's another first", Snyder said. "But there's no real alternative".
Sunday's first round departure marks the beginning of what should be a very interesting offseason for the Clippers organization. Some of those called fouls were not actually fouls, but anyway. Or they can drive to Vegas, too, if they really want.
George Hill and Derrick Favors added 17 points apiece for the Jazz in what proved to be the easiest game of the back-and-forth series.
And he was the major defensive reason Paul had his worst game of the series.
Make no mistake about it, life is about to get hard for the Jazz.
"We talked about our bigs just getting up a little bit more", Hill explained. "It'll be about trying to shut them down, not him, whoever that "him" is".More news: Levee breaks in Arkansas as record flooding continues to plague the region
Even Paul noted that in his postgame press conference.
"They definitely do it by committee", said Stephen Curry. "That means being the big being up in the ball screen".
"It was sort of up tonight, not letting me get to my spots and stuff like that". And that meant that, instead of scoring 30, Paul scored 13.
Ingles' contribution in game seven against the Clippers was the Australian's highest points tally of the series.
OAKLAND Unlike previous incarnations, the current Utah Jazz team is more like a true jazz ensemble.
"I was struggling a lot this season with injuries and my teammates had to hold it down for me", Favors said. "I just wanted to come out, be aggressive, and make sure I had their backs". "You have to play ideal from then on". The nine-time All-Star dominated and finished with eight assists, three rebounds and two steals.
The Celtics used 19 3-pointers to help overcame an early double-digit deficit and take Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinals series. So what are his stats once you take that out?
But they exploded in a 36-point third quarter before holding off a Washington charge.
Unfortunately for them, the Jazz ended up eliminating the Clips in LA on Sunday, two days after Chris Paul told the retiring Pierce: "You're not ending your career in Utah".
