MIAMI (AP) - Edinson Volquez has thrown the sixth no-hitter in Miami Marlins history, facing the minimum 27 batters and beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-0 on Saturday. Pinch hitters Daniel Descalso and Owings were also retired on third strikes.

Justin Bour went 2-for-4 to lead Miami's offense.

ST. LOUIS - Adam Wainwright hit a two-run homer off Brandon McCarthy and pitched six innings of four-hit ball, leading St. Louis over Los Angeles for a four-game split. Entering Saturday with a.163 batting average, Schwarber was hitting ninth.

Hector Rondon (1-1) pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the win.

The New York Mets say someone else worked as the team mascot at Thursday night's game against Milwaukee. Colorado closed out four straight games against the Mariners in interleague play by jumping on Yovani Gallardo - 2-6 - with four runs in the second inning. Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk, advanced to second on a hit by Marcell Ozuna and scored on a soft single to shallow left field by Bour. He gave up only three hits. Just as in the fourth inning, the rally was started by Stanton's leadoff walk. Merrifield's hitting streak is the longest in the majors this season. Iannetta has a five-game RBI streak.

MIAMI (AP) - The Miami Marlins have established a trust fund for the mother and 3-month-old daughter of their late ace, Jose Fernandez. The Royals sent 10 men to the plate and the six runs rivaled their biggest inning of the year.

Volquez's first season in Miami started about as badly as possible; the Marlins lost eight of his first nine starts and Volquez dropped his first seven decisions. It was Stanton's 15th homer of the season. - Lorenzo Cain capped a six-run fifth inning with a two-run homer, Jason Hammel settled down after a shaky start and the Kansas City Royals routed the Cleveland Indians 12-5 on Saturday.

Arizona cut its deficit to 4-2 in the third.

And he's got some teammates who keep flashing power as well.

PHILADELPHIA - Tommy Joseph homered and Ben Lively gave up one run in seven innings in his major league debut as Philadelphia held off San Francisco at Citizens Bank Park.

Greinke was 1-for-25 this year before he singled in the sixth and scored the Diamondbacks' first run. Back-to-back singles from Maikel Franco and Andrew Knapp put runners on the corners with no outs and ended the day of Giants starter Johnny Cueto (5-5).

The Marlins, though, didn't allow a run after that and then tacked on an important run in the seventh on a J.T. Realmuto RBI single.

OAKLAND, Calif. - Ryon Healy had two doubles and two homers, Jed Lowrie doubled twice and homered, and the Athletics beat the Washington Nationals. Bour hit his 16th homer - an opposite-field shot off the home run statue in left-centre - and Yelich hit an upper-decker for Miami.

Arizona had to go to its bullpen for eight innings.
