So up next is The Last Knight, which I'm eager to see.
The Transformers films are a series of American science fiction action films based on the toys created by Hasbro and Tomy. All of my deductive reasoning combined with previous life experiences tells me to avoid wasting a single dollar or brain cell on the new Transformers film - as the older I get, the less I have of either. Instead of getting bogged down with action scenes and product placement, this might be the first time in the series where the movie gets bogged down by its own mythology.
Since it's the lowest-grossing film of the franchise so far, it would seem audiences are generally exhausted of the Transformers films.More news: Tech Titan CEOs Strategize at the White House
Despite the franchise's mammoth success, Bay, 52, who directed all the films in the franchise, has mentioned at nearly every press event promoting The Last Knight that this would be his final go at the Transformer movies.
Internationally, however, the Paramount Pictures release is well on its way to another strong performance for the Transformers franchise. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth.
Wonder Woman holds film at number 2 this week with $25 million, in fact Cars 3 is claiming the exact same weekend taking so there could be a rare case of a 2 and 3 place tie. This tracks well for the latest Pixar film, which has now earned an estimated $99 million so far. Russian Federation should post $8.9 million in earnings from 1,251 spots. Will The Last Knight be as entertaining as Dark of the Moon? The film earned $24.3 million from 1,042 IMAX screens worldwide, which marks the second-biggest global IMAX opening for Paramount, behind only Age of Extinction's $26.7 million. Made for $149 million, Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, Connie Nielsen and Lucy Davis. The latter fell a staggering 77.9% in its second weekend. Korea was the next highest with $13 million, Russian Federation followed with $8.9 million, and the United Kingdom brought in $5.7 million. We considered the highest gross revenue figures adjusted to 2017 dollars for the 186 franchises with data from Box Office Mojo. Sure, a movie about sentient robotic organisms hiding out on our planet doesn't bring to mind great drama or oration, but good plot and character development always helps.
"The Last Knight" is off to a lukewarm start in North America, where it earned $8.1 million on Thursday for a muted two-day total of $23.8 million, the lowest start of any title in the franchise. The recent reboot of the fan-favorite 1997 film of the same name sees Cruise play Nick Morton, an archeological thief who steals ancient artifacts from sites of historical value and sells them to the highest bidder.
