Wizkid Beats Stonebwoy to Top BET Award

Nigerian pop star, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has clinchéd the highly desirable "Best International Act: Africa" at the 2017 BET Awards. "BET was the first network and place where I was on TV - I am looking to turn this whole experience into a joyful homecoming".

The event will be hosted by Leslie Jones.

Stonebwoy who won the 2015 BET Award for Best International Act: Africa, has been nominated again this year in the same category. Those who don't want to watch the award show on television have several options to choose from when it comes to viewing this year's ceremony.

The Ghetto Kids dance group from Uganda are in California, Los Angeles United States to represent their country and the East Africa at large at the BET Awards, later today.

Viewers can expect to see performances from the likes of Lil Wayne, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, DJ Khaled, French Montana, A$AP Rocky, Future, Migos and more. Following this year's Oscars Best Picture debacle, Jones said she's steeling herself for possible mistakes she might make onstage.

The BET Awards will air June 25 at 8 p.m. EST on BET from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Familiar faces like Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Jamie Foxx will appear alongside newer names like Trevor Noah, Algee Smith and Yara Shahidi to present the awards for the night.
