Blizzard has updated the official Overwatch website with new story details alluding to Doomfist, a character fans have been wanting for some time now. Anyone who has seen the carnage in the airport of the Numbani map can attest to the destruction he will bring to game. Clearly, Talon has something to do with Doomfist, especially considering one of the earliest cinematic trailers for the game has Widowmaker trying to steal his gauntlet.

It looks like Blizzard is prepping for Doomfist's eventual addition to the Overwatch rotation if the latest Lore post is any indication.

When Overwatch introduced its 24th hero, the robot Orisa, they first teased it with a cryptic article posted on February 21. Actor Terry Crews has been campaigning for the role of Doomfist all year, which has led to him visiting Blizzard's headquarters, meeting members of the Overwatch team like Lead Writer Michael Chu, and filming a mock audition video. It confirms that the event was an attack by the Talon organisation, "with the express goal of freeing one man: Akande Ogundimu, better known as Doomfist".

The report narrated that an unidentified aircraft approached the facility and passed through its defense systems without incident, most probably because the prison's technology was hacked by Sombra. Security initially reported that the craft had no passengers on board, based on radar scans.

Ogundimu was reportedly broken out by "a black shadowy figure" that is speculated to be Reaper, who has attempted the theft of Doomfist's Gauntlet in the past. The assailant overcame the Helix security guards, leaving over dozen deceased.

This is not the first time that the name Doomfist has cropped up on Overwatch fiction. Is Doomfist a hero that will be officially introduced in the coming months? Will we be seeing Doomfist in the PTR soon? After some data mining, there was the note of Doomfist's name in the recent update, and could possibly be released during the Summer Games Patch with the return of Lucioball. Or is this just another in a long line of teases about the character?

When do you think Doomfist will go live?
