Evacuation orders remained in effect Sunday for Hwy. Evacuation orders were also in place in towns in Colorado and Montana.
The Whittier Fire burns in Los Padres National Forest in Santa Barbara County, California, on Saturday. A summer camp had to be evacuated because of fire as well. "They have quite a few fires there and seem pretty busy, so they need help from other provinces", he said.
In Santa Barbara County, there's no end in sight for the Whittier Fire, which started Saturday afternoon at the peak of the weekend's heat wave when temperatures hit 110 degrees Fahrenheit, reports CBS News correspondent Mireya Villarreal. No structures are threatened.
[4:00 p.m. PDT] - Earlier in the afternoon, the Alamo Fire jumped a retardant line and began burning out of control in Santa Barbara County, according to Santa Barbara Fire Captain Dave Zaniboni.

The fire burned almost 8 square miles (20 sq. kilometers), destroyed at least 10 structures and damaged critical infrastructure, leading Governor Jerry Brown to declare a state of emergency to provide assistance to local authorities. It is 80 percent contained.
Fire crews have yet to contain the fire. About 1,000 fire personnel are actively fighting the blaze with more resources ordered.
There were 40 uncontained large US wildfires on Saturday, the National Weather Service said. It is 90 percent contained. Officials said that the flames were "completely out of control" as temperatures reached almost 38C and fires were fanned by strong winds.
Firefighters were contending with more than 200 wildfires burning in British Columbia that had destroyed dozens of buildings, including several homes and two airport hangars. The cause is still under investigation.
Fire crews from Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties are now battling a brush fire that broke out just after 3:30 p.m. on Highway 166 near the Twitchell Reservoir in SLO County.
