The protests came as a BJP youth wing leader was arrested and the Dhanera City BJP president named as an accused on Saturday in connection with the attack on Rahul's auto.
The protesters carrying placards and banners raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) - "Rahulji kare jana seva, BJP kare hamla jaanleva", "Rahulji ke nahi rukenge kadam, Modi chahe karle jithne zulm", "Gandhiji ke Gujarat me hinsa, Modi teri kaisi mansha". Meanwhile, one person was today arrested in connection with the incident.
Palanpur unit BJP youth wing general secretary Jayesh Darji was arrested by the Banaskantha district police after registering an FIR, which also names three others. He was also shown black flags, that forced him to cut short his address at a gathering in Dhanera town of Banaskantha district and had to leave in a huff.

"Yesterday (Friday) such a large stone was thrown by the BJP workers. But they have completely failed in their responsibility", leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad said. "What can I say?"
"Why has national leadership of BJP not condemned the attack on Rahul Gandhi's auto (sic)?", he wrote on Twitter.
The BJP, however, said it was an unfortunate incident and the party had no role to play in it.
Another Senior Congress leader Anand Sharma said that Congress was a 140 years old party and it will not get scared and intimidated by such attacks.
"The attack on Rahul Gandhi is most shameful and deserves to be condemned in strongest terms. We will put in all our might into the service of people".
