"Shreyas Iyer has been prolific in all forms of the game, be it day's format, be it one-day or T20 or IPL, you name anything he has been performing", MSK Prasad, India's chairman of selectors, said in Mumbai on Monday.

Chief selector MSK Prasad said on Sunday that there "is no assurance from our side that he's going to play or not".

While Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla will host the first of the three T20Is on Nov.1, the second and third games will be played on Nov.4 and 7 respectively at Rajkot and Thiruvananthapuram.

22-year-old Iyer was in fine form in the recently concluded series between New Zealand A and India A where he scored 317 runs in the four matches including a highest score of 108.

However Prasad insists that Nehra's selection does not guarantee that he will play. He is doing very well and has duly been rewarded. "He has been playing continuously right from IPL till today, we need to give him a break which we will consider after the Test series", he added", Prasad said. They have really done well in South Africa, also at home against New Zealand. The think tank involved will be taking a call.

TEST SQUAD vs SRILANKA (first two matches): Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma. Coming out to open the innings, Iyer smashed 439 runs in 14 matches before going on to bag the IPL emerging player of the Year award.

"We have clearly communicated to the player, i.e Ashish Nehra and to the team management that we are only looking at him till the New Zealand series. It will be decided on that particular day". From the pool of players that were selected to play against Australia earlier this month, only one was dropped - batsman Kedar Jadhav.

The series begins November 1, which will also be Ashish Nehra's farewell match as he bids adieu to cricket.
