Mo Versi, the company's VP of product management, announced the news in a tweet over the weekend.

After rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Nokia 8, HMD Global is all set to open the Android Oreo Beta Lab for the Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 very soon.

As it was expected from them, HTC has started offering the Android Oreo OS for its U11 smartphone. It is worth adding that bringing Android 8.0 Oreo to HTC U11 also makes the company third OEM after OnePlus and Nokia to bring the new OS version to its users. From today onwards all users using HTC's coveted U11 would be able to enjoy the experience of Android's latest offering on their smartphones.

If you have the unlocked variant of the HTC U11 you can manually check for the update by going into Settings About Software updates Check now.

To remind you, Android 8.0 Oreo includes picture-in-picture support, autofill for passwords, notification dots, redesigned emojis, adaptive icons, faster boot times and more. Based on this, it's safe to say carrier models will get the upgrade a bit later than the unlocked units. The HTC U11 Life came with an Android 8.0 version out of the box for all global markets besides the USA market. The smartphone now runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system.

Currently, the only other HTC phones that feature Android Oreo are the newly launched U11 Life and U11 Plus.
