Sunday morning, NBC News reported sources close to Robert Mueller's Russia-Trump investigation claim that the special counsel has enough evidence on former White House National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, as well as his moron kid Michael Flynn Jr., to indict them both. Investigators will also look at whether the elder Flynn tried to help form a plan to extradite an opponent of Turkish President Recep Erdogan who lives in the U.S.
After former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and two others were indicted last week, the sources say Mueller is applying renewed pressure on Flynn.
The sources reportedly told NBC that investigators are examining Flynn's lobbying contacts and looking at possible charges of money laundering and lying to federal agents.
White House officials have previously stressed that those charged to date were campaign officials who were not brought into government by Mr Trump.More news: Media is 'obsessed' with Russian Federation probe, but Americans don't care: White House
Lawyers for Mr Flynn and his son, who worked with his father, declined to comment to NBC News. Shortly afterward, Flynn's son tweeted a 2013 photo of his father and Mueller sitting at the same table during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing: "A picture worth a thousand words.go nuts with your comments".
It was reported that Mr Flynn could face less severe charges if he cooperates with Mr Mueller's team and that could also benefit his son.
Mr Manafort and his business partner, Rick Gates, were charged with 12 offences, including money laundering and conspiracy against the US.
Washington Post conservative columnist Jennifer Rubin said that Attorney Gen. Jeff Sessions "is going to have a lot of difficulty" in the weeks ahead due to his false statements to Congress. But cooperation from Flynn, who was national security adviser for only 24 days before he was sacked, could help his son avoid the worst penalties.
