Patrick Jiron, 80, and Barbara Jiron, 83, said they were from northern California and were en route to Boston and Vermont.
"They said the marijuana was for Christmas presents", Lieutenant Paul Vrbka from York County reported.
During the traffic stop, deputies noticed a strong scent of the sticky-icky emanating from the Toyota Tacoma.

Altogether, the street value of the seized marijuana was reportedly about $336,000, Vrbka told the York News-Times.
A Sheriff's Department in Nebraska was in for a surprise when they stopped an elderly couple for a traffic violation. Barbara is the second defendant, and was "cited in the case but was not jailed 'due to some medical issues,'" Vrbka told the York News-Times. He has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and having no drug tax stamp. Nebraska punishes possession of up to one ounce with a $300 citation but the sale of any amount is a felony.
According to The Washington Post, marijuana is not legal in the state of Nebraska.
Though many states have legalized marijuana to varying degrees, Nebraska is not among them.
