TyLon Pittman saw a video clip of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and chose to call his local police department in Byram, Miss. on Saturday to report the green Dr. Seuss character's intentions. The child had been watching videos online of the Grinch doing his Grinchy deeds before he called police. They showed up with a Grinch and let Tylon arrest him. The icing on this heartwarming Christmas tale came on Monday, when Byram's Police Department arranged for the boy to literally lock up the Grinch in a holding cell inside the department's headquarters.
What happened was that Byram (Miss.) Police Officer Lauren Develle heard about it and wanted TyLon to know that his holiday was safe. Watch the full clip below.
"I just want to tell you something".
Taking the boy's hand in a handshake, the Grinch told TyLon, "You have saved Christmas for the people of Byram".More news: Prince Harry was 'nervous' interviewing Barack Obama for BBC Radio 4
"He calls people all the time", his mother, Teresa Brown-Pittman, told the TV station. But he was still anxious the Grinch might find a way to steal everyone's presents and decorations.
But TyLon said: 'He steals everybody's Christmas'. "I'm going to ride my motorcycle so fast". After serving his time in the holding cell, Tylon chose to let the Grinch go.
"I want him to come to my house and take him to jail", TyLon told the officer. "Every Christmas morning, my dad wears these Grinch trousers", she said with a smile on Sunday. Your bravery is unmatched. "You have saved the day", The Clarion-Ledger reported. According to the Clarion Ledger, Pittman called the police department last Saturday unbeknownst to the rest of his family after learning on the internet about the green fiend and his motives.
"When you turn 21, come back and I'm going to give you a job application, OK?" he said.
