Salman Khan pips Shah Rukh Khan to top Forbes Celebrity 100 list

The top five of Forbes India's 2017 list of 100 celebrities is relatively unchanged from a year ago, despite the methodology having changed - the rankings are now based on earnings and age instead of earnings and fame. Salman Khan, topping the list again, made a startling 232.83 crores, while Shahrukh earned 170.50.

While the first and second position on the Forbes India Celebrity 100 List is taken by Salman and Shah Rukh, Virat has secured the third position on the much talked about list.

Now, all eyes are on his latest release, Tiger Zinda Hai, that is not only expected to do a record making business and gross Rs 200 crore or more. Akshay Kumar earned Rs 98.25 crore in 2017, which helped him rank at number four in the list.

As his current film, Tiger Zinda Hai opens to encouraging reviews and numbers, Bollywood bhai Salman Khan also superior in the Forbes India Celebrity 100 List, which was released today. Sultan star Salman Khan grabbed the top spot for the second successive year, despite the subdued box office performance of his recent film Tubelight. "This year's celebrity 100 lists are based on a revised methodology focusing on the celebrities' earnings, thus reflecting in better representation and hence well-rounded Celebrity list of 100", he added. Previous year too, Salman had defeated the Jab Harry Met Sejal actor.

Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni were the other two cricketers in the lineup at 5th and 8th position respectively. According to Forbes, the three men collectively made ₹626.52 crore last year; this year they only made ₹504.05 crore. This year he is at the sixth position defeating Priyanka Chopra, Hrithik Roshan and Ranveer Singh.

Priyanka Chopra was the only woman in the top ten having earned ₹68 crore while Deepika Padukone missed it by a small margin (she earned ₹59.45 crore).
