As was the case with Bandai Namco's Tekken 7, the fighter is set to uses the Unreal Engine 4. Fortunately, we have a lot of time until its 2018 release, which will likely be toward the end of 2018 to get away from any other fighting games that may compete.

Previously, the Soul series, including the very first Soul Edge, has been bound to consoles and arcade platforms, only ever breaking those confines to come to mobile phones.

SoulCalibur VI was just one of many surprises during the 2017 Game Awards show.

Soulcalibur 6 is finally happening. The game was preceded by Soul Edge, which spawned the franchise in 1995. As it was announced by Bandai Namco "Classic characters like Mitsurugi and Sophitia are rendered at a level never before seen in the series".

A second trailer for Soul Calibur VI was unveiled as part of this year's PlayStation Experience. The developers say that the game is a return to the roots of the original and takes place in the 16th century.

Granted, the above video doesn't go into extreme detail about the title, like original reveal the earlier this week, but it does feature Mitsurugi and Sophitia as they battle it out once more. With 2018 nearly here, expect more "Soul Calibur 6" details to be revealed soon. Bandai Namco said. "Check out the announcement trailer and get ready for the triumphant return of 3D weapons-based fighting".
