Expanding it's product portfolio, two and three wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor forayed into the 125cc scooter segment, with the launch of NTORQ, priced at Rs 58,750 in New Delhi.
Starting with Tata Motors, the Indian company stole the show, showcasing six futuristic electric vehicles. The motorcycle draws power from a Emflux Li-ion, Liquid Cooled Modular Battery Pack with Integrated High Power Samsung Cells. The Mahindra e-KUV100 gets smartphone connectivity, remote diagnostics, cabin pre-cooling, location tracking and it even monitors your driving pattern and battery status.
South Korea's Kia Motors, which is expecting to open a $1 billion Indian manufacturing plant in 2019, announced plans for an "India-exclusive" electric vehicle. The company also introduced two new vehicular architecture platforms for passenger vehicles.
"The transformation to electric cars is inevitable in India", said Sumit Sawhney, who heads Renault's Indian business. The X-Blade will be available in five colour options- Matte Marvel Blue Metallic, Matte Frozen Silver Metallic, Pearl Spartan Red, Pearl Igneous Black and Matte Marshal Green Metallic. A Bengaluru-based tech start-up Emflux Motors unveiled India's first electric superbike dubbed as the Emflux One at the event. The bookings will start mid-February and deliveries will be done as early as mid August.
Japanese auto maker Honda also displayed its NeuVConcept and Sports EV concept but said it will wait for clarity in policy for EVs in India before firming up any definite plans for the segment. Power and torque output figures aren't known at the moment. It offers a wide range of 270KMs in a single charge.
The company has priced Comfort E Auto HS at Rs 1.49 lakh (ex showroom Delhi) and comes with facilities such as central locking and Global Positioning System.
"Today we announce three of those models - All New Amaze, All New CR-V and much awaited 10th Gen Civic which will be launched in India in FY 18-19", said Hachigo.
