Three law enforcement officers were injured and a suspect was dead after a shooting in Georgia on Friday, WSB-TV reported, citing local sheriff's officials.

He said the Locust Grove officer who was killed had been on the force for about five years.

The shooter was killed in the incident, which happened around 10:30 a.m. while deputies were serving a warrant, WSB-TV reported.

He said it happened as the officers were serving an arrest warrant that morning at a home in Locust Grove, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) southeast of Atlanta. Both were wearing bulletproof vests, but the deputy in serious condition was shot below the vest. "We got to pray for the two county officers that's wounded".

The brother of the wounded Deputy Michael Corley, Wade Corley, told Christy Hutchings with the New Talk 106.7 his brother will survive his wounds.

The two Henry County deputies were veterans, McBrayer said.

The names of the officers, along with that of the suspect, have not been released.

The neighbor told Fernandes that she thought the gunshots were firecrackers until she saw all the first responders descend on Saint Francis Court.

While attempting to arrest the man, an altercation broke out and all four men were shot.

One of the deputies was shot through his bullet proof vest in the stomach and is undergoing surgery.

Two of the officers were taken from the scene to a hospital by helicopter, while the third was taken to a hospital by ambulance. They turned away people who don't live in the neighborhood. Nearby Locust Grove Elementary School was put on lockdown.

"It's scary because you never know who is in your neighborhood".
