The Westerville Police Department officers were shot while responding to a 911 hang-up call in the suburban city about 20 miles north of Columbus.

A teenager who lives across the street from where two OH police officers were fatally shot in a Columbus suburb says he heard five or six shots and then saw police cars pulling up. "This was their calling, and they did it right", Morbitzer said, choking back tears. They were fired upon when they arrived at the scene, said the report. The suspect's condition and identity have not been released.

Police said a suspect is in custody, but they provided no other details.

"It is with a heavy heart we report a second Westerville officer has been killed in the line of duty", City of Westerville‏ officials said.

The suspect, who was wounded and taken to a local hospital, is now in police custody.
