The gunfight erupted at Khonmoh village in the outskirts of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir, after militants attacked security guards of a local pro-India politician.
A gunfight is raging between a group of militants and security forces in Khanmoh area outside the highway town of Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district since Thursday afternoon.
Security forces on Friday recovered the bodies of two terrorists who were killed in an encounter in Srinagar's Khonmoh area while apprehended two terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession. Following the attack, the area has been cordoned off by government forces. "While the search operation was underway, contact was established with the holed up militants".
The injured policeman was rushed to a hospital, where his condition was stated to be stable, the official said. "He has been identified as Hamas - a FT (foreign terrorist)", a police spokesperson said.
A day after two terrorists were killed in a counter-insurgency operation in Khanmoh area near Srinagar, the body of a third terrorist was found at the encounter site on Saturday. The gunfight between the two sides takes place intermittently across the region.
