With so many gamers around the world moving on from their beloved franchises to playing battle royale games like Fortnite BR and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, it's no surprise that a number of developers are looking to get in on the action.
There's no denying that Fortnite and its PvP offshoot, Fortnite Battle Royale, having a moment right now. A white arc pops up when you're close to another player that's moving around.
Fortnite is free to play (though there are in-game purchases) and it's become a hit on game streaming services like Twitch.
Going into slightly more details, this new update improves server performance and reduced bandwidth usage when players are jumping and optimizes shield effects on players to improve overall frame rate. But that's a whole other ongoing discussion.
One particular popular feature of the game is its cross-platform capability. Records and hearts were broken. Although, you should know that you'll encounter bots in the first few games. "We are investigating this now and will update soon".

However it isn't just a cluttered display that's a concern with Fortnite on iOS. In our time with this initial build of the game, we didn't notice any lag or stutter, it felt surprisingly smooth.
Once you're signed up, you'll receive an e-mail confirming your request for an iOS download.

When you receive your invite it's simply a matter of activating your account and logging into the app.
I'm a big fan of ranged combat in Fortnite, therefore the idea of taking some poor bastard down by way of remote explosive excites me. He also praised the special visual indicators for the mobile version, which allow you to pick out where enemy gunfire and footsteps are coming from, even if you don't have headphones in.
Sure enough, a battle royale mode or standalone branded Call of Duty game would easily and quickly become the most played around.
Though it's exciting that Fortnite is coming to mobile, do be aware of scams. While the app is live in the App Store, you'll need an invite from a friend or Epic Games to gain access...
