Up until Tuesday Maduro looked defiant and set on the April 22nd date, saying during a public speech: “They (the opposition) want electoral guarantees so that they can beat me?

Campaign chiefs Luis Romero for Henri Falcon, and Jorge Rodriguez for President Maduro, signed the agreement guaranteeing that all parties would also respect the results of the rescheduled elections.

Reuters reports the Trump administration is considering harder-hitting sanctions against Venezuela's oil sector than in the past ahead of the country's April presidential election, according to a source close to the internal discussions on the matter.

United Nations chief Antonio Guterres would also be invited to send an observer mission to monitor "all phases of the process".

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has announced an expansion of pension fund and a delivery of additional food shopping cards to the population, the TeleSur broadcaster reported Wednesday.

The decision to delay the vote was widely interpreted by critics of the government as an attempt to steamroll the deeply divided opposition coalition and throw it into disarray.

Maduro says Venezuela's election system is clean, and accuses the United States of leading a right-wing global conspiracy to end socialism and take over his nation's oil.

This has made financial transactions between Venezuela and the rest of the world more hard, aggravating the country's economic crisis.

In 2012, he created his own party, the Progressive Advance party, who he will be representing for the upcoming presidential elections in alliance with the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) party and the Christian Democrats (COPEI). Maduro to postpone the vote and provide other conditions.

Representatives of those two parties signed Thursday's agreement.

Two-time presidential candidate and leader of the Primero Justicia (PJ) opposition party, which is part of the MUD group, Henrique Capriles said: "Sadly, he [Falcon] has given into the temptation to participate and with that he is playing the game of the Maduro government, and we have to condemn him for it".

Maduro also handed in the Government Program for the 2019-2025 presidential period, which is considered to be the continuation of Hugo Chavez' Fatherland Plan 2013-2019.
