A league title victor in four different countries, Ibrahimovic left hometown club Malmo for Ajax in 2001.

Ibrahimovic's arrival in California comes after a serious knee injury past year disrupted the end of his stint with Manchester United, which he joined in 2016 from Paris Saint-Germain.

"I have a lot to give, I can help them a lot, and they are the best team in the US".

"I am ready to go now", Ibrahimovic said.

Although the Galaxy are the most successful club in MLS history with a record five championships, their fortunes have dipped sharply in recent seasons. Wherever I have come, I have won. I come to win.

However, because the Galaxy have already signed their designated players for the 2018 season, Ibrahimovic's salary will be limited to around $1.5 million according to the Sports Illustrated report.

Ibrahimovic had returned to competitive action for United in November after recovering from surgery to fix a ruptured cruciate ligament but his last match was a first-half run-out on Boxing Day.

He was similarly flamboyant during his spell with United, saying earlier this season his recovery from his knee injury was down to the fact that "lions don't recover like humans". Yet he returned swiftly after injuring a ligament in his right knee last April, and he said he has been "training very hard" for months.

The 36-year-old forward is Sweden's career scoring leader with 62 goals in 116 appearances and is the first player to make Champions League appearances for seven teams. I'm not there for something else.

The Galaxy made a serious pitch for Ibrahimovic last year, but he elected to spend another year in Manchester. "I'm like a little child that you give candy for the first time, and he's looking for candy all the time, so that is what I need".

LA has an intriguing collection of talent to provide service for Ibrahimovic, including French winger Romain Alessandrini, who became one of MLS' best overall players last season in his Galaxy debut. "This is just a new adventure for me, a new challenge and I am looking forward to conquer (ing) the USA, just like I conquered Europe". He also won two MLS Supporters' Shields with Galaxy and the MLS Western Conference on three occasions.
