The investigation of Cohen - which has pitted the president against his own Justice Department - took another unexpected turn Monday with the courtroom revelation that one of Cohen's legal clients was Fox News commentator Sean Hannity. Stephen Colbert from The Late Show and Trevor Noah from The Daily Show shared their comments about Hannity and Cohen.
"And to be absolutely clear, they never involved any matter - sorry to disappoint so many - any matter between me, a third party, a third group at all. My questions nearly exclusively focused on real estate". "I don't say who my clients are, sometimes I do, and many times, most of the time, I do not". I did have occasional, brief conversations with Michael Cohen.
Case closed, right?! Not so fast. Not only does Hannity have a conflict of interest because he has a relationship with Cohen, but there could well be information about Hannity himself in the documents the feds seized. The exact nature of Cohen's work for Hannity is unclear. Cohen said he had three clients: Trump; Elliott Broidy, the former deputy finance chairman of the Republican National Committee, who impregnated and then paid a woman with whom he had an affair; and a third party that Cohen said did not want to be identified.
"I've just learned in the press that anybody who is Sean Hannity's lawyer is going to be blasted so I think this phone call is over", she told the Atlantic.
Colbert described Cohen as a "New York attorney and sad neck with hair", and referred to his client Broidy as "Donald Trump flattened out by a rolling pin".
"What we witnessed earlier in the hearing with the disclosure relating to Sean Hannity proved my point exactly". But Judge Wood ruled that the lawyers must disclose Hannity's name.More news: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg vows to fight election interference, fake news
"You and I have discussed this - they are going to try to destroy Donald Trump", Hannity said. "You know, now that we know he was working with Cohen, that looks less like a news show and more like a guy really stressed, giving himself a pep talk". He looks a bit foolish for going nuts over the Federal Bureau of Investigation raid on Cohen's office given the fact Hannity didn't disclose the relationship with Cohen.
"I never retained him, received an invoice, or paid legal fees", the Fox host tweeted.
On Hannity's primetime show on Fox News, Dershowitz told the host he should have disclosed his relationship with Cohen during his frequent discussions about Cohen in recent weeks.
"My discussions with Michael Cohen rose to any level that I needed to tell anyone that I was asking him questions", he said.
For example, TheGatewayPundit.com, an unreliable site now being sued for defamation after accusing an innocent person of being the suspect accused of killing a counter-protester at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville in August 2017, published a story with the extraordinarily misleading headline, "BREAKING: Sean Hannity Responds After Deep State Alleges He Was Michael Cohen's 3rd Client". Carlson added. "Attorney-client privilege no longer means anything". After Kimmel joked on his show about first lady Melania Trump's accent, Hannity called Kimmel a "despicable disgrace".
Carrey's work takes on-the-nose political paranoia from everyday Americans and brings it to life with bright hues and high concepts. "What? It's who? Go ahead and make sense of that why don't you".
