Lallana was introduced as a substitute just after the hour mark of Liverpool's 2-1 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday, but lasted only five minutes before pulling up with a muscle injury.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists Manchester City are favourites to progress to the Champions League semifinals - at his own team's expense.

Thrashed 4-0 at Everton last season in one of the worst defeats of Guardiola's glittering career, City underlined their vast improvement since then as Raheem Sterling finished off a ruthless counter-attack in the 37th minute.

Despite being elevated to superstar status over the past year after his heroics in guiding Egypt to the World Cup, Salah remains a humble and hard-working player who shuns the limelight and is reluctant to give media interviews. Did we think before the first game we would lose 5-0? No.

He's well on his way to smashing the Premier League record for number of goals in a 38-game season, which now stands at 31.

Sadio Mane has backed Mohamed Salah to halt Manchester City run when they face Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal on Wednesday evening.

"Do we know we have a chance? Yes".

Salah has been involved in 38 Premier League goals this season (29 goals, 9 assists), the most by any player in the competition since Luis Suarez in 2013-14 (43).

Klopp pinpointed the penalty Salah scored for Egypt against Congo in October, which booked his country's place at the World Cup, as a key moment for the forward, encouraging him to kick on to the next level in his performances.

Klopp was watching the game at home and remembered: "I almost had a heart attack. Nobody told him to score 30 goals otherwise we can't be successful, and now we don't tell him that if he doesn't score we cannot win".

But it is further down the table where the records are being shattered at the moment, as Mohamed Salah's goal spree for third-placed Liverpool has propelled him past a number of previous statistical achievements, and the Egyptian sharp-shooter is on the cusp of more. "If you deliver in a situation like this, this is what can happen to you". That is something I would never would have thought is possible.

Liverpool began to get themselves on top until the momentum shifted again, but Palace were unable to capatalise - with Christian Benteke missing two glorious opportunities to score.
