He said innovation, investment, start-ups, manufacturing etc.are the key aspects of cooperation between India and Sweden.

PM Modi will hold separate bilateral meetings with the leaders of the other four Nordic countries on the sidelines of the summit. The two countries agreed to deepen their collaboration in the field of innovation through the strategic partnership.

Amidst loud cheers from the audience, the PM said: "Be it Africa or small Pacific countries, or ASEAN or Europe or Asia, all of them are looking at India as a trusted friend".

The Nordic countries and India reaffirmed the need for reform of the UN Security Council, including its expansion in both permanent and non-permanent seats to make it more representative, accountable, effective and responsive to the realities of the 21st century.

On counterterrorism, Mr. Modi and Mr. Löfven emphasised that the global counterterrorism legal framework should be regularly updated to address the changing threat of terrorism with strength.

Exchange knowledge and explore cooperation on smart cities, including transit-oriented urban development, air pollution control, waste management, waste-to-energy, waste-water treatment, district cooling and circular economy, including through dialogue and capacity building. Modi is arriving late this evening in the United Kingdom and will embark upon a packed day of bilateral engagements with British Prime Minister Theresa May and the royal family tomorrow before going into formal multilateral discussions as part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) later in the week. Lofven received him at the Stockholm airport as a special gesture.
