The following season coming back from injury Griffin's playmaking abilities fell tremendously. After Griffin played worse in 2013, Cousins took over the starting job for the last three games of the season.

'He came in last week, worked out. GM Ozzie Newsome said that Griffin visited the team to workout last week, and the two sides came to an agreement last night.

Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh is optimistic about the signing; saying the deal was a bargain and that it improved the team.

Griffin will likely be the second quarterback on the depth chart for the Ravens; behind Joe Flacco and ahead of third-year quarterback, Josh Woodrum.

Now that last year's backup Ryan Mallett is a free agent, Baltimore was in the market for a No. 2 quarterback and the Ravens circled back to Griffin, who was still itching to play again and remained in contact with Baltimore. He looked hesitant after even the first injury but following the second knee injury, it seemed that Griffin was constantly second-guessing himself.

An ACL injury at the end of that rookie campaign portended the injury struggles to come for RGIII. His last game was as a member of the Cleveland Browns, in the 2016 regular-season finale. Now he gets a chance at redemption in Baltimore.

Griffin, 28, was selected by the Washington Redskins with the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, and starred in the league during his prodigious rookie season before injury setbacks hampered his development.

It's a new start for Griffin, who will still have to battle for a roster spot in the Charm City.
