Emelianenko knocked out former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir in the headlining bout, which was an opening round fight for the Bellator MMA Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament. Emelianenko will now meet Chael Sonnen in the semifinals later this year.
The Saturday fight came a few days after Emelianenko was questioned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation over what The Telegraph reported was the Russian MMA fighter's collaboration with Affliction Entertainment.
The 38-year-old Mir also enjoyed most of his success from 2000-10. Sonnen entered the cage for a faceoff with Emelianenko following the bout. The victor would move on to the semi-finals of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix.More news: Westbrook Vows to Shut Down Rubio in Game 4
Emelianenko's USA manager Jerry Millen confirmed the Federal Bureau of Investigation had sought out his fighter before his appearance at Bellator 198. A trademark hip toss followed from Fedor before the fight returned to the feet.
"All the bums on the rest of the card are going to call me out now", Danis said after winning his first fight. "I gave you guys a free seminar how to defeat MMA with jiu-jitsu".
Askren hasn't fought with Bellator since 2013, but he remains undefeated in his professional career (18-0) and defended the welterweight title four times before leaving the company. "I said this before: When you are this good, you don't feel pressure".
