Netflix earlier today released first-look images from the new season, which are featured in this story, along with a Mary Tyler Moore-flavored promo (you can watch it below).

The fourth season of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" will air in two separate parts.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has never attained quite the level of cultural cache as some of Netflix's other originals. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which was created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, doesn't have the most normal premise for a sitcom.

The series follows Kimmy Schmidt as she continues to adjust to life in the 21st century after spending many years locked in a bunker by a insane man. Joining Kimmy on her journey are her best friend and roommate, Titus Andromedon; her former-employer-turned-friend Jacqueline White; and landlord Lillian Kaushtupper.

Ellie Kemper in "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" season 4. However, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has a dedicated following and a quite consistent level of quality, especially when it comes to performances.

Deadline first posted the news, which was later echoed by The Hollywood Reporter.

Discussions of a potential wrap-up movie imply that this is an ongoing conversation between the show and the streamer and not an abrupt move. In short, it's everything we love about Kimmy Schmidt.

However, fans of the highly positive, cheerful and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt may be in for a treat if the rumors are true that the show will be turned into a movie. Before the decision was made to end the series with season 4, Netflix announced that it would break up the season into two parts.

Though season 4 might mark the end of the series, it may not be the last time we see Kimmy, Titus, and the rest of the gang. The seven episodes that make up the second half the season will be available at a later date in 2018.
